7 Common Fashion Items for Men in Spring 2017

Spring is almost here; if you live somewhere cold, you’re probably pretty excited to start dressing for warm weather again. If you want to dress well, but you don’t have the money for these items recommended by the New York Times, here are 7 items that every guy should have in their closet heading into spring.

1. Polo Shirts

Situated the perfect distance between casual and professional, polo shirts are perfect for spring. Pick one that fits a little snugly–there shouldn’t be excess fabric around your biceps or stomach. CNN even named the polo an essential “minimalist” item.

2. Boat Shoes

Boat are a staple of Spring fashion, but you aren’t limited to “plain-Jane” brown shoes–Sperry and other companies now offer various colors and styles for the traditional boat shoe, including pastel options (which would go well with many other items on this list).

3. Pastel Dress Shorts

Do us a favor and save your denim cut-offs for around-the-house wear. A well-fitting pair of pastel dress shorts is an essential for spring. When standing, the hem of your shorts should hit between one and three inches above your knee.

4. Sunglasses

When the sun’s out, you have to protect your eyes. Traditionally, warmer weather is the time for aviators and other metal sunglasses, which get too cold for comfort in the winter.

5. Canvas Belts

Wearing brightly colored shorts with a standard leather belt can look a bit stodgy, or even a little clueless if the pairing is particularly bad. A bright, webbed canvas belt will give your Spring outfit a little extra “pop”.

6. Necklaces, Wristbands and other “Man Jewelry”

Jewelry is a hotly-debated subject in men’s fashion; many men simply won’t wear any. If that describes you, we humbly suggest that you break out of that rut. You don’t need to wear anything gaudy, but a subtle item like a dog-tag necklace, leather cuff, or interesting bracelet can tie together your look (and maybe even give you and an attractive lady something to talk about).

7. No-show socks

When the weather heats up, it’s tempting to go sockless, but if you have foot odor, this can mean the death of a good pair of sneakers (especially canvas, which absorbs odors really easily). If you want the sockless look, invest in a pack of no-show socks–you’ll thank us later.

Looking Good Year-Round

We hope that your Spring is fantastic, and that you look fantastic for it! With a combination of these items, you’ll be set for Easter, Memorial Day Weekend, and more.
